Yuri On Ice Review

Hey guys this is my 13th anime review enjoy ya’ll

The plot:

Yuri On Ice tells the story of Yuri Katsuki a young skater who after losing in a figure skating competition develops mixed feelings about his career and returns to his hometown Hasetsu he meets up with his childhood friend (Yuko) at a skating rink where she works , later her daughter’s upload a video of Yuri skating a routine of his hero Viktor Nikiforov * I may have to look up his surname it’s difficult to pronounce πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚* which goes viral Viktor even sees the video he soon travels to Hasetsu where he tells Yuri he is going to become his new coach. Meanwhile Yuri’s rival Yurio Plisetski hears about Viktor furious about the news he travels to Hasetsu because Viktor made a promise to him that he would become his coach.

My thoughts on the anime:

A very hyped up show with a massive fan base including nice but sometimes weird fan girls e.g. bodypillows of Viktor shirtless ” he’s my husbando , omg this is precious !!!!”

The anime when I watched it I thought it was very good It was original the idea of ice skating had never been done in this genre before there are other sports anime such as Free.

But this was different and realistic I loved the portrayal of anxiety from Yuri’s character this deeply moved me as myself suffers from anxiety so this related to me so much , the representation of homosexuality in this show is fantastic the relationship between Yuri and Viktor is the most beautiful and touching romances of all time.

To this day I have no problems with it I still love the story I’m not too keen on the fan base but I still love the characters this show has also inspired my craft of being a writer it’s helped me develop a current movie script I’m writing.

As for the dub by Funimation best dub from last year everyone did an amazing job with each character particularly Micah Solusod as Yurio , Josh Grelle as Yuri and Jerry Jewell as Viktor other actors such as Alexis Tipton as Yuko , Monica Rial , Ian Sinclair etc etc.

Plus the song for the opening I still adore it History Maker By Dean Fujioka I play it non stop whilst on the treadmill πŸ˜πŸ˜‰πŸ˜€.
